wine description

2018 WINKLERBERG Häusleboden Spätburgunder GG

VDP.GROSSE LAGE: 2018 Ihringer WINKLERBERG Spätburgunder Häusleboden Grosses Gewächs | dry

Due to the strong reduction in yield, the distinctive terroir and the special microclimate, this wine meets the highest demands. After the mash fermentation in the wooden fermenter, the wine was matured in barrique barrels for 18 months to perfect the taste, whereby approx. 90% of the barrels were made of new wood. The wine is characterized by an immensely rich fragrance, very complex aromas of wild cherries, raspberries, currant jelly and cranberries .

Here on the top terrace of the Winklerberg Heger's oldest Pinot Noir vines are rooted. Since there were no vine clones at the time of planting more than 60 years ago, a "selection massale" from Burgundy was planted here. The "Häusleboden" is not comparable to any other Pinot Noir from the Dr.Heger house: with a complex scent of wild cherries, sloes and raspberries, it is supported by fine spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is elegant and fine with captivatingly delicate fruit. Delicate in its tannin structure with a complex backbone and invigorating acidity, it is the characterful dancer among the Pinot Noirs.
