Darting
As the most important grape variety, Riesling takes up almost half of the vineyard area. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rieslaner, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat also thrive in the appropriate locations. From Chancellor and Huxelrebe, Dartings win ice wines and noble sweet wines, which also attract worldwide attention.
For some decades now, Helmut Darting has also been cultivating red wines such as Pinot Noir, the Austrian Sankt Laurent, Schwarzriesling and Cabernet Cubin, which mature in wooden barrels or in barriques to make full-bodied, elegant wines.
What has matured through careful coordination of locations and vines, through sustainable cultivation and a lot of manual labor in the vineyard, should unfold in the glass after the harvest. That is why almost ninety percent of the reading is done by hand. Depending on the variety, some red wines mature exclusively in barrels made from French or local Palatinate oak.
