Viticulture has been practiced in the family for around two hundred years. Grandfather Herrmann Dönnhoff Senior already had a great passion for Riesling and paid great attention to winemaking and the purchase of prime locations in the area. His son Hermann Dönnhoff Junior continued this tradition. When Helmut Dönnhoff vinified his first vintage in 1971 at the age of 22, the business had already turned into a pure winery. Today this is undisputedly one of the absolute top winemakers in the world.
