The south-facing VDP.GROSSE LAGE® GANZ HORN in the individual location Im Sonnenschein is particularly characterized by its geologically 'young' soil. While in the location in the sunshine the faults of the Rhine basin have brought very different - also particularly old and otherwise low-lying geologies from the Triassic (220 million years old) - to the surface, the soils in the GL GANZ HORN consist of around one million Year-old slope gravel with the components red sandstone, gravel, loam and sand. These were transported here after the ice ages and deposited on the slopes of the Queich valley. These permeable soils are well suited for Riesling, which also grows here in the majority. The vineyards are 160 to 180 meters above sea level and have a gradient of 5 to 20 percent. History: All vineyards of the old location "Siebeldinger Ganshorn" disappeared with the change in the wine law in 1971 and became "Im Sonnenschein" (source: VDP.de)
