The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® IDIG rests majestically on a mighty limestone massif. The slope drops 20 percent to the south, which is quite steep for Palatinate standards. The nearby Haardtgebirge and the Rolandsberg protect against cold westerly winds - but are far enough away not to shadow the 125 meters above sea level. The seven hectares of vineyards are lit on long summer days until the evening hours. In addition, a gentle wind constantly flows down from the nearby Stabenberg, which with its drying effect keeps the vineyard healthy for a long time. The topsoil of the GL IDIG consists of terra fusca, which was created from lime and clay in combination with red sandstone rubble. In the topsoil there are countless limestones but also basalt. Riesling and Pinot Noir grow here. History: As the Hofkammergut of the Palatinate Electors, the vineyard was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century.
