2020 STEINBERG Riesling GG
VDP.GROSSE LAGE: 2020 Traisen Rotenfels STEINBERG Grosses Gewächs | dry
The Steinberg is a vineyard site in the Traiser Rotenfels, another prime location next to the Mühlberg and a VDP.GROSSE LAGE®. Half of the 1-hectare vineyard is planted with 30-year-old vines and half with young vines (~4 years).
The Riesling grapes grow on a steep southern slope on the shoulder of the Rotenfels massif on reddish volcanic rock. (rhyolite). The easily warmed soil and the good water supply support an optimal growth process. Here we harvest Rieslings that have a fantastic finesse, enormous amounts of citrus and peach fruit and a perfectly integrated acidity, long-lasting in the mouth and racy on the finish.
Our Steinberg GG scores with a creamy saltiness and hints of cassis and black pepper. The GG from 2020 is already very accessible and makes you curious about further developments.
