Berg Roseneck

Vineyard

The Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck is embedded between the Berg Schlossberg and Drachenstein sites. The name Roseneck describes the wild rose hedges that can often be found here on the rocky outcrops. The location is divided into an eastern and a western part. In the western area there is a ravine-like incision with the steepest vineyards. The soil here is medium-deep in most places with extremely stony sections. Further to the east, the area tends to be flat and is limited to the east by a ledge. Here you can find deep loess loam soils. Over its entire size, the Roseneck mountain faces south with a gradient of 33%. In the vineyards of Berg Roseneck there are rocky outcrops made of granite overgrown with wild roses, rose hips and sloes, which is why the individual vineyard was initially known as the "rose hedge". The first vineyards were planted here around the year 1200. At that time these initially wound up the mountain in numerous small terraces. Around 1700, the mule tracks were removed and paths with walls on the mountain side were built. In the course of land consolidation from 1970 to 1985, paved driveways were built in the area and the terraces were saved.
