Vineyard

The "Berg Rottland" location, close to Rüdesheim and to the east of the Berg Roseneck vineyard, is partly characterized by deep loess loam and otherwise rather shallow, rocky and creepy, created from slate and sandstone. 1074 vineyards were first planted here. The name is derived from the Middle High German terms reuten and rotten for the word clearing. It can be traced back to a donation made by the Archbishop of Mainz in the years 1031-1051 to the Rüdesheim winegrowers, with which he left them fallow land for clearing. The traditional Riesling grape variety is native here. Because of its noble scents, delicate structure and classy acidity, it is one of the sources for the finest white wines in the world.

Crossed by heat-storing walls, the south-facing vineyard is between 100 meters and 150 meters above sea level on the eastern flank of the majestic Rüdesheimer Berg.
When crossing the car ferry from Bingen to Rüdesheim, the vineyard can be seen in its entirety. Noble rot is particularly favored by the banks of fog that form in the Rhine Valley. Spätlesen and Auslesen are read in high quality even in average years.
