2019 KREUZ Spätburgunder GG
VDP.GROSSE LAGE: 2019 Oppenheim KREUZ Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs | dry
Our plot is located in the heart of the Oppenheimer Kreuz and the soil here is characterized by mighty loess banks, repeatedly interspersed with fragments of coarse limestone and shell limestone. The French Pinot Noir clones result in an intense red wine with herbs and spices. The Pinot Noir here comes from the classic French Pinot Noir clones from Burgundy, which we grafted onto old vines.
This is not the only reason why the Pinot Noir from the Oppenheimer Kreuz is unique. Whether it is the base, the soil, the vineyard or the French clones - despite the presence of its body, the deeply dark shimmering wine has a freshness and finesse that is expressed in completely independent aromas. The nose is reminiscent of herbs, paired with fine notes of cassis and dark berries. In the mouth, these aromas are combined with the unbelievable minerality - the wine is playful, prancing and dense with a long finish.
