The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® AULERDE is usually the warmest location in Westhofen with an early grape ripening. It is protected in the west by the slopes of the parish. The three parcels classified as AULERDE GL cover four hectares. The vineyards rise from the Upper Rhine Plain with a gradient of ten percent and are at 90 to 100 meters above sea level. In AULERDE GL, clay marl dominates alongside small amounts of loess loam and limestone. The subsoil consists of yellow clay sand and gravelly sand. The predominant grape variety in AULERDE is Riesling. History: First mentioned in 1380. (Source VDP.de)
