The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® FRAUENBERG slopes to the southeast in the direction of Niederflörsheim. The slope is 40 percent, the height between 190 and 200 meters above sea level. Loess, marl, limestone, as well as stony and clayey loam can be found in the soil. The interplay between the warmth of the south-east and the cooling winds creates an autonomous microclimate that contributes to a long ripening period. The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® is located in the upper, steeper parts of the otherwise rather flat single layer Frauenberg. History: The location was mentioned in a document in 1290 with the name "an frauwenhalten". Originally the mountain was owned by a nunnery. (Quelle: vdp.de)
