Schloss Lieser
The wine village of Lieser lies in the middle of the beautiful river landscape on the Middle Moselle. The landmark of the place is the mighty Lieser Castle, built from gray slate in 1875, once the seat of Baron von Schorlemer. The wines of the Schloss Lieser estate, built in the immediate vicinity in 1904, were world-famous and among the best in the region. Unfortunately, after the property was sold in the 1970s, there were qualitative slumps due to multiple changes of ownership.
In 1992, THOMAS HAAG joined the winery, which was in poor condition, had no customer base or bottled wine, and was able to buy it with his wife Ute in 1997. With many years of experience in his parents' business, Fritz Haag winery, as well as the knowledge of the Wine University in Geisenheim, after years of hard work, he was able to restore the Schloss Lieser winery to what it used to be, one of the most renowned wineries on the Moselle.
